<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air valve utilizing a small piezoelectric element with low power consumption which can stably provide air pulses with sufficient air blow amount. <P>SOLUTION: This air valve comprises a valve element controlling the opening/closing of a clearance between an air pressure chamber in a body and an air outlet emitting air pulses, the piezoelectric element generating, in the form of displacement, a drive force required for the opening/closing operations, and a displacement increasing mechanism acting a small displacement generated from the piezoelectric element on the valve element after increasing the small displacement by the principle of leverage. Since the displacement of the piezoelectric element acts on the valve element after being increased by a displacement increasing function, the large clearance is given between the air pressure chamber and the air outlet. Since the valve element is connected to the piezoelectric element through the displacement increasing mechanism, when the energization of the piezoelectric element is released, a return force is forcibly transmitted to the valve element, and the closing of the clearance is rapidly performed. By connecting a plurality of unit air valves to each other, a composite piezoelectric air valve having a common air pressure chamber can be formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
