PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine having an intake port capable of consistently forming a strong tumble flow in a cylinder. SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine 1 having an intake port 2 to lead intake air in a deviating manner to one side 3a of the cylinder with respect to a center line CC of the cylinder so that a tumble flow T is formed in the cylinder 3, a stepped part 7 extending inward of the intake port is provided on the boundary between a wall surface 2b on the distal side with respect to one side of the wall surface of the intake port and a throat part 6a of a valve seat 6 continuous to the intake port.
