<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device which can reduce power consumption for the operation of the electronic device which carries a rotating operation section. <P>SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a rotating operation section which can rotate freely, active elements 31 and 32 which detect rotation of the rotating section, a control means 43 which supplies mode information of the device to a timing generation means 44, the timing generation means 44 to generate the timing signal of a cycle based on the mode information from the control means 43, a switching means 45 which carries out on/off of a power source supplied to the active elements 31 and 32 based on the timing signal from the timing generation means 44, and a sample holding means 41 to sample and hold a pulse signal from the active elements 31 and 32 based on the timing signal from the timing generation means 44. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
