The device for the transporting of an internal combustion engine comprises a transporting frame (1) which has at least one relatively movable mounting rail (11) with at least one support for an add-on element (14) in such a way that the add-on element can be transported away from the engine block (4,8) in a positionally correct position in relation to it. The alignment of the respective axes of the corresponding fastening areas (12,13,16) allows a converter shaft of a transmission unit to be mounted on the engine block without tilting.
