<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable failsafe functioning in case of communication failure without additionally loading non-multiplet lines besides a multiplex communication line. <P>SOLUTION: This device comprises a microcomputer 2 which receives a request for wiper operation and o a control signal corresponding to the request a microcomputer 6 which receives a control signal from the microcomputer 2 and generates a prescribed output signal; the multiplex communication line 4 which transmits the control signal from the microcomputer 2 to the microcomputer 6; relay switches 8, 9 for switching a path for power supply from an electric power supply IG to a wiper motor 10 corresponding to an output signal from the microcomputer 6.
