WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXER AND DEMULTIPLEXER USING PARABOLIC HORN TYPE WAVEGUIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer capable of minimizing the deformation of spectrum to be outputted and crosstalk being a mutual interference phenomenon between adjacent channels by improving coupling efficiency between a higher mode and a fundamental mode of an optical signal to be inputted and outputted. SOLUTION: The wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer is equipped with one or more input waveguides for inputting the optical signal, a grating for demultiplexing the optical signal and an output waveguide for outputting channel which is demutiplexed by the grating. The output waveguide is equipped with a first sub-waveguide 415a having reverse parabilic horn shape in which its width (W) becomes narrow gradually along the progressing direction of the optical signal and a straight line-shaped second sub-waveguide 415b which has constant width along the progressing direction of the optical signal which passed through the first sub-waveguide.
