PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic information reading method and device capable of precisely reading magnetic information printed on a sheet paper regardless of a secular change of the sheet paper, a difference in quality of printing, or a noise by void or the like. SOLUTION: Magnetic information printed on the paper sheet is reproduced by a magnetic body, and a sample table having a time and an amplitude for predetermined feature points is formed based on the reproduced magnetic information of characters. The correlation in each character between the sample table and a dictionary table having a time and an amplitude for every feature point, which is formed in advance for every character, is computed, and the characters of the reproduced magnetic information are determined according to the computing result.
