PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing dimethyl ether in which contact area of a raw material gas with a suspended catalyst solution is enlarged, and an apparatus for carrying out synthetic reaction for the dimethyl ether. SOLUTION: The method for preparing the dimethyl ether comprises directly bringing the raw material gas into contact with the suspended catalyst solution to carry out a reaction in a reaction tower. In the suspended catalyst solution in the reaction tower, at least one of pulse, micro wave vibration and ultrasonic wave vibration is superimposed on a continuous phase of the catalyst solution to promote dispersal of foam of a disperse phase gas. The raw material gas increases a vapor-liquid interfacial area by contact with foam of the disperse phase gas and thereby the reaction is promoted in the reaction tower in which the suspended catalyst solution is reacted.
