PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device having a protection function of an address driving section. SOLUTION: The video display device having a panel which is equipped with an address electrode and a data electrode, a scaler which converts a video input signal so as to comply with the resolution possessed by the panel, the address driving section and data driving section which respectively drive the address electrode and the data electrode in response with the video signal from the scaler and a gradation control section which compares the change of the video signal outputted from the scaler in a line unit, varies the gradation of the video signal outputted from the scaler by the result of the comparison and varies the number of operation times of the address driving section is provided.
