PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image photographing system which surely and minutely performing mammography by inhibiting to illuminate a radiation when a suitable cassette is not mounted by confirming identification information of the cassette registered with an image reader side when a mammography apparatus side photographs. SOLUTION: The mammography system includes the mammography apparatus 1, and the image reader 20. The image reader 20 has a reader controller 200 for registering a bar code 31 attached to the cassette 30. The mammography apparatus 1 has a bar code reader 32 for reading the bar code 31 attached to the cassette 30. When the bar code 31 is read, a collation with the bar code 31 registered with the reader controller 20 is acquired for the reader controller 200 of the image reader 20. When the cassette 30 is not confirmed to be suitable for photographing, a photographing unit controller 100 controls so that the radiation from a radiation source 6 is not illuminated.
