PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered quartz glass molding which enables reduction of polishing work of the article after being finally sintered and has a flat surface capable of being industrially used, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the sintered quartz glass molding 4, a calcined body 2 by calcining the molding obtained by molding a quartz glass powder 1, the calcined body 2 is immersed in a suspension in which the quartz glass powder is dispersed, then the immersed calcined body is taken out of the suspension, and after drying, the dried calcined body 2 is finally sintered.
