<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable early detection by always monitoring minute abnormal vibration of a rolling mill. <P>SOLUTION: A monitoring device 20 for monitoring the minute abnormal vibration in a reversing cold strip mill 1 includes a band pass filter (BPF) 21, a relay 22 and an alarm 23. The band pass filter 21 selectively passes only component having a specified frequency included in the position signal of a reducing cylinder 15 which is detected with a sensor 16. The relay 22 includes a timer and performs temporal judgement. The alarm 23 issues an alarm for notifying abnormality when the abnormal vibration is detected.
