PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency while restraining the size of an outer shape to the size not more than that of a conventional type. SOLUTION: This water pump of an engine is provided with an impeller A with several blades 32 arranged on an impeller base plate 31, driven by the engine giving a motion to water sucked in from a center side of a pump chamber 10, and a vortex chamber 20 collecting the water from the pump chamber 10 through the impeller A and leading the water to a discharge side. A depth of at least the vortex chamber 20 constituted in a side of the impeller base plate 31 is made deeper and deeper in an impeller axial direction toward an outside. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
