<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint sensor with a compact size and a low cost in which simplicity of structure can be attained. <P>SOLUTION: The fingerprint sensor 11 has a silicon base 12. A board thickness of the silicon base 12 is from 20 μm to 100 μm. A light receiving element 14 and a circuitry 15 are arranged on a back surface 12b of the silicon base 12. A surface 12a of the silicon base 12 is a surface 13 that comes in contact with a finger.
