<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print job charging system in a computer system. <P>SOLUTION: This system includes a computer (application 304) and a printer 320 electrically connected to the computer. An executable instruction is arranged in an electronic communication path 306 between the printer 320 and the computer, and configured so that a new address can be added to a print job as the destination of a status message. The print job charging method is provided with following steps. Pre-print analysis processing is executed for the print job, and the instruction decides whether the print job should be transmitted to the printer 320 on the basis of the result of the pre-print analysis processing, and the print job is transmitted to the printer 320. Then, a status message including processing information actually performed concerning the print job is received, and the actually performed processing information is transmitted to a charging system 308.
