<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear side alarm device capable of preventing false alarm by a guardrail or the like without requiring an expensive additional apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The rear side alarm device comprises a ranging means for measuring an object distance between an own vehicle and an object existing in a rear side part, a lane change detecting means for detecting lane change of the own vehicle, an alarm distance setting means for setting an alarm distance from the own vehicle, and an alarm processing means for comparing the alarm distance with the object distance on the lane change side and determines alarm occurrence when the object distance is shorter than the alarm distance. The alarm distance setting means sets the alarm distance as a predetermined first alarm distance synchronously with the detection of the lane change, and sets it so that it decreases inversely proportionally to lapse of time to a predetermined second alarm distance and becomes constant at the second alarm distance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
