METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ABSORBENT ARTICLE HAVING MAIN BODY COMPRISING FRONT WAIST PORTION, REAR WAIST PORTION, WAIST HOLE, TWO LEG HOLES AND A PAIR OF ELASTIC LEAKAGE PROTECTIVE MEMBERS

PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing an absorbent article that has excellent leakage protection while legs of a wearer are free of excessive pressure from leg elastics. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (a) superimposing a top sheet, a back sheet, and absorbent members therebetween at predetermined intervals to form a first assembly that forms a front waist portion; (b) superimposing a top sheet, a back sheet and absorbent members there between at predetermined intervals to form a second assembly that forms a rear waist portion; (c) continuously supplying the first and second assemblies at a predetermined intersecting point P1 on a conveying path at a speed synchronized so that respective absorbent members are opposite to each other; (d) folding a pair of continuous elastic sheet materials that form leakage protective members, in half to form a pair of subassemblies and forming an opening in each of the leakage protective members at predetermined locations; (e) continuously supplying the subassemblies to one of the first and second assemblies along the side edge portions thereof, respectively, with the opening adjacent the absorbent members, respectively, at a point P2 prior to point P1 on the conveying path; (f) bonding the first and second assemblies and the leakage protective members at predetermined bonding portions; and (g) cutting the bonded first and second assemblies along a predetermined line to form the absorbent article.
