The procedure for assembling boxes from cut-out panels of a semi-rigid material such as cardboard or corrugated cardboard uses a shaper (5) that is inserted into the partly-folded box while its last side panel (1) is glued onto a tab (4) on the adjacent panel to complete the side walls. The base flaps (2) are then folded over and fastened before the shaper is withdrawn, leaving the box with open top flaps (3) and ready to be filled. The shaper is one of a number moving along an endless drive system to provide continuous operation.
