There is disclosed a method of estimating moisture content in a material involving directing a first frequency (f1) signal and a second frequency (f2) signal through a material, determining a first absolute phase shift (phi1), of said frequency signal and a second absolute phase shift (phi2) of said second frequency signal, transforming phi1 to a first corrected absolute phase shift (phi1c) and phi2 to a second corrected absolute phase shift (phi2c) in accordance with an expected relationship between phi1 and phi2, and estimating moisture content from phi1c and phi2c.
