PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-free optical glass and optical fiber having a high refractive index and also excellent thermal stability at heat treatment. SOLUTION: The lead-free optical glass is composed of 45-75% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 12-45% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 1-20% Ga<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 1-20% In<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-20% ZnO, 0-15% BaO, 0-15% (SiO<SB>2</SB>+Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+GeO<SB>2</SB>), 0-15% (MgO+CaO+SrO), 0-10% (SnO<SB>2</SB>+TeO<SB>2</SB>+TiO<SB>2</SB>+ZrO<SB>2</SB>+Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+WO<SB>3</SB>) and 0-5% CeO<SB>2</SB>, and (Ga<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+In<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+ZnO)≥5%.
