A stacked molten carbonate fuel cell structure, comprising insulating ceramic seals (5a-d) with gold-coated areas facing external gas supply lines (3, 4), is new. A fuel cell structure comprises electrically insulating seals (5a-d) between stacked molten carbonate fuel cells (2) and external lines (3, 4) for fuel gas and cathode gas supply, the seals consisting of a ceramic material which is resistant to molten metal carbonate and which has polished surfaces with mutually isolated gold-coated areas facing the external lines (3, 4). An Independent claim is also included for a seal for the above fuel cell structure. |
