PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous road marking coating excellent in mechanical stability, storage stability, and drying characteristics, and an aqueous road marking coating polymer latex suitable for the coating. SOLUTION: The aqueous road marking coating polymer latex is obtained by subjecting 10-60 pts.wt. monomer mixture (A) composed of 1-30 wt.% ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and 99-70 wt.% other ethylenically unsaturated monomers copolymerizable therewith to emulsion copolymerization in the presence of an anionic surface active agent, then adjusting the pH of the polymerization system to≥7, and subjecting 90-40 pts.wt. ethylenically unsaturated monomer (B) to emulsion polymerization in the presence of an organic carboxylic acid salt surface active agent or an amphoteric surface active agent, provided that a sum of the monomer mixture (A) and the ethylenically unsaturated monomer (B) is 100 pts.wt.
