A device (1) for transferring cigarettes from a cigarette manufacturing machine (3) to a packing machine (4), wherein the cigarettes (2) can be transferred in bulk along two alternative paths (P1, P2); a first path (P1) extends through a FIFO store (10), while a second path (P2) connects the cigarette manufacturing machine (3) directly to the packing machine (4), and is used when carrying out maintenance of the store.
