<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating material for automobile which has an excellent heat resistance durable against heat exceeding 700°C, has high strength, has an excellent durability to acid and alkali and, further, can be easily incinerated upon the disposal. <P>SOLUTION: A large number of basalt yarns which are made by melting basalt and drawing the molten basalt in a long-filamentous state, are bundled with a sizing agent and are cut in a short-filamentous state, the obtained short fibers are opened and are made bulky, the obtained bulky short fibers are made felt-like by means of needle processing and, thus, the heat insulating material for automobile is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
