PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for decomposing garbage underwater, the operating cost of which can be reduced by introducing a decomposing liquid into any or both of a drying unit and a purifying unit and the garbage treatment efficiency of which can be kept without being deteriorated even when the drying unit gets out of order. SOLUTION: This apparatus for decomposing garbage underwater is constituted so that garbage is thrown into a garbage throwing-in unit 1 and crushed in the unit 1, the crushed garbage is introduced into a decomposing tank 2 and decomposed in the tank 2 by a microbe contained in the decomposing liquid stored in the tank 2 and a part of the decomposing liquid is withdrawn from the tank 2, sent to the drying unit 6 and dried in the unit 6. A purifying tank 7 is arranged into which a part of the decomposing liquid in the tank 2 can be introduced by a supplying means so that a part of the decomposing liquid can be introduced selectively into the tank 7, the unit 6 or both of the tank 7 and the unit 6. The supplying means is composed of a stop valve 72, a communication pipe 71 for communicating the tank 2 with the tank 7 and a supply pump installed on the pipe 71. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
