PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the secure engagement state of a vacuum cleaner against a strong outer force applied unexpectedly when the vacuum cleaner is carried. SOLUTION: In the vacuum cleaner, a dust collecting part lid 3 and a mounting part 4 can be engaged with each other by a locking means consisting of a lock part 8 and locked part 7, and a lock surface 11 to be engaged with the locked part 7 of the lock part 8 is inclined. When a vacuum cleaner body is carried with the dust collecting part lid 3 being closed, force is applied to the lock surface 11 in the direction opposite to the direction of releasing the locking means. Accordingly, the lock surface 11 is not detached from the locked part 7, and the engagement state can be maintained even though a strong force is applied unexpectedly. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
