<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device in which recording/reproducing does not stop due to the influence of external light, cutting the tape being unable to detect the tape end, and a tape end detection method. <P>SOLUTION: This magnetic recording and reproducing device is provided with first judging means 103, 105 comparing output stored in output storing means 101, 102 with a reference value stored in reference value storing means 104, 106 and judging whether the prescribed first condition is satisfied or not, and a second judging means 108 comparing a residual time of a magnetic tape or a used time of the magnetic tape 2 calculated by a calculating means 107 with a reference value stored in a reference value storing means 109 when it is judged that the prescribed first condition is satisfied, and judging that it is a tape end when the prescribed second condition is satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
