PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of realizing a moving picture display function even in the case of employing an imaging element with a greater number of pixels and performing reduction of the photographing interval and power saving. SOLUTION: In the case of photographing and recording a still picture, image signals of all pixels are read from a CCD 16, a plurality of processors 40 share the processing of photographing signals of one image and carry out parallel processing (shared processing), and in the case of displaying a moving picture, one processor 40 (concretely, a first processor 40A) performs the thinned reading and the photographing signal processing, and a reduced image of the substantial image obtained by the photographing of the CCD 16 is displayed as a moving picture of a through-image.
