PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out high quality image formation in which image joints are inconspicuous.

SOLUTION: A scanning density in a direction in which a plurality of writing means 104 are arranged is made variable (for example, the density is changed in the arrangement direction for the last line of the image joint). Thus a joint deviation amount between images formed on a recording medium 102 by each of the writing means 104 is corrected.
