<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze the starch structure of Rhodophyta and separate and identify the synthetase of the starch. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to an isoamylase derived from Porphyridium belonging to Rhodophyta. The invention further relates to a gene encoding the isoamylase, a vector containing the gene and a transformant containing the vector.
