A transit assembly or subassembly composed of blocks (1, 2) having flanks, and flanking components (6) which engage or associate with the block flanks. The assembled blocks define a transit passageway (15) for piping, conduits and the like, which may optionally include a bush (8). At least one of the pairs of flanking components is adapted to therethrough a tie (14) which bears directly on the flanking members to provide a force which in turn acts on the blocks and thereby holds or retains the pipes, conduits, or the like to substantially prevent their movement.
