APPARATUS FOR COUNTERCURRENT CHROMATOGRAPHY

A plate apparatus for use in countercurrent chromatography comprises a disk shaped tube support having a spiral groove formed in an upper surface, at least one slot extending at least partially through the disk connecting an inner opening to an inner groove portion and an outer edge to an outer groove portion, and at least one layer of fluid flow tubing accommodated substantially within the spiral groove and the slot. The tube support further comprises a radial return path from the outer portion of the spiral groove to the inner portion of the spiral groove. In an additional embodiment, the tube support comprises a plurality of interleaved spiral grooves wherein a single or plurality of layers of fluid flow tubing are positioned in the interleaved spiral grooves.
