<p>Novel uses of a hydroxamic acid derivative represented by the formula (I) (wherein the symbols are the same as defined in the description). These are: a method for the prevention of or treatments for ishemia/reperfusion injury with the derivative and a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof; a method of preserving organs with the derivative and salt; and a method of screening a preventive or therapeutic agent for ishemia/reperfusion injury.</p>
