Control unit (1) has a base (2) with a number of mounting positions (3) that are connected to an electrical bus (13) via central electrical interfaces (22). Each mounting position can have an electrical connection module (4) or an electrically controllable fluid control module (5). Each module has a complementary central interface (23). The fluid control module has a valve arrangement (34) that is controlled using signals transmitted over an internal electrical bus (13). The electrical connection modules have inputs and or outputs (26) for electrical cable (33) connection.
