PURPOSE: A method for inputting a telephone number in a mobile communication terminal is provided to print a telephone number converted into a predetermined code with information such as a name on a business card, and to read the code through a terminal to register the telephone number in a telephone directory or to immediately originate a call, thereby improving user convenience. CONSTITUTION: A mobile communication terminal is converted into a code input mode when a predetermined hot key is pressed by a user. A telephone number or a name code of a business card is scanned through a code reader part by utilizing the terminal as a handy scanner. The scanned telephone number or the name code is decoded, and is displayed on a screen. While the telephone number or a name is displayed on the screen, the telephone number is stored in a telephone directory when a 'save' button is pressed by the user or a call is immediately originated when a 'call' button is pressed by the user.
