The invention disclosed is for grain removal in image processing. An operator selects a sample of screen elements of a displayed image. The colour co-ordinates of these screen elements are determined and a minimum volume enclosing the colour co-ordinates of the screen elements is determined. This volume is then transformed to a different co-ordinate system wherein the distance between pixels at the extremities of the longest orthogonal axis represents grain to be removed from the image. By processing the pixels according to the distance between colour co-ordinate values and averaging colour co-ordinates, the grain can be removed from the image. |
