DEVICE AND METHOD FOR GENERATING RANDOM NUMBER USING DIGITAL BIOMETRIC INFORMATION AS NOISE SOURCE

PURPOSE: A device and a method for generating a random number using digital biometric information are provided to satisfy efficiency evaluation measure including a random number generating ratio and the easiness of implementation, and a security evaluation measure including unpredictable and randomness by using the digital biometric information as a noise source. CONSTITUTION: A biometric information recognizer(10) obtains/converts the biometric information into the digital biometric information and outputs the digital biometric information. A random number generator(30) receives the digital biometric information from the biometric recognizer and generates/outputs the random number by using the digital biometric information as the noise source. The random number generator includes a processor(32) performing a process for generating the random number, a biometric information processing routine(34) generating random bits for generating the random number by processing the digital biometric information, and a buffer(36) temporarily storing/outputting the random bits.
