The process involves forming a cylindrical ball (B) in a press (5), and unwinding a film (F) between two sheet metal rolls (7, 8) when the ball is formed, to position the film on the ball. The cylindrical ball is fastened using the film, and the ball is then spiral wrapped. The fastening of the ball is continued during spiral wrapping of the ball and also after spiral wrapping of the ball. An independent claim is also included for an installation of implementing a process for spiral wrapping balls of ensilage.
