PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying method and a carrying device capable of carrying a flexible carried element in a flat state; and to provide a coating method for uniformly and stably coating a coating liquid on the flexible carried element as a flexible supporting element that is made to be flat, and a manufacturing method for manufacturing a coated article with uniform coating film thickness by the coating method. SOLUTION: The carrying method and the carrying device generate creases 7 by deforming a web 1 in a width direction, and carry the web in the flat state by smoothing down and correcting the creases at a first guide roll 11 disposed on a downstream side. The coating method and the coated article manufacturing method correct the creases and coat the coating liquid on the flat web on the downstream side of the first guide roll.
