The prefabricated frame is formed of channel sections which face outwards and are of a width equal to that of the masonry wall. During construction the frame is used as a template to form the opening. The sill member is placed over the brickwork when the requisite wall height is reached, forms a gauge for the construction of walls on either side, and a soffit former for the lintel. The bar of the 'U' section may be stepped to form a frame rebate, and the legs may also step inwards to form a kerb defining the opening. The frame may be adapted to walls of masonry or steel plate construction, and the void between the frame and the wall ends may be injected with insulant.
|
