PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiving apparatus in which convenience can be improved in relation to broadcast viewing when browsing an electronic mail. SOLUTION: When an electronic mail comes in while viewing a digital broadcast on a mobile receiver terminal 2, processing for automatically opening the electronic mail or processing for opening the electronic mail according to an instruction from a user is performed. When performing the processing for opening the electronic mail while thus displaying broadcast receiving video, the processing of switching to a display picture for electronic mail contents (text) is not performed but while continuously displaying the broadcast receiving video, the contents (text) obtained by opening the electronic mail are displayed within the same picture (liquid crystal display panel 202) by an OSD function.
