PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure accurately a torque transmitted between a hub 13 and a wheel side constant-velocity universal joint 2, and to constitute a structure for measurement having a small size at low cost. SOLUTION: This rolling bearing unit is constituted so that deformation rings 41a, 41b are inserted respectively between both end faces of the hub 13, and the outer end face of an outer ring 5 for the joint provided on the wheel side constant-velocity universal joint 2 and the inside face of a nut 51, and first and second encoders 6b, 7b are provided on the positions sandwiching the deformation ring 41a from both sides in the axial direction. First and second rotation detection sensors 8b, 9b are provided so that each detection part thereof faces close to both encoders 6b, 7b, and the torque can be detected based on the phase difference of detection signals from the first and second rotation detection sensors 8b, 9b.
