S-clips are used in particular for joining two slightly overlapping flat vehicle parts. A metal strip is bent twice in order to provide two insertion spaces (9, 11) which can be of different heights. The new design of an S-clip is additionally provided with short laterally (21) or centrally positioned segments (33) formed by cuts into the strip and bent in order to reduce the depth of one or both of the insertion spaces (9, 11).
