PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a cleaning roller is simply cooled and which ensures upgraded image quality by preventing reverse flow of a toner even when a polymerized toner is used. SOLUTION: The axial length of a cleaning roller 20 kept in contact with a pressure roller 19 is made larger than that of the pressure roller 19, the shaft diameter of parts of the cleaning roller 20 kept in non-contact with the pressure roller 19 is made larger than that of a part kept in contact with the pressure roller 19, and gaps are left so as to prevent contact of end surfaces of the cleaning roller 20 with end surfaces of the pressure rollers 19. A toner used is a toner obtained as follows: a toner dispersion prepared by dispersing a dry toner including a modified polyester resin, a colorant and a release agent in an aqueous medium in the presence of an inorganic dispersant or a fine particulate polymer is brought into a polyaddition reaction with a reactive material comprising amines, and then the solvent of the resulting emulsified dispersion is removed.
