PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character graphic generator of an HDTV signal with small hardware, which can inexpensively be realized, of which the timing control is easy and by which various special effects are also possible. SOLUTION: RAMs 3, 4 have capacity for at least two frames of the HDTV signal. A FIFO memory 7 has capacity for at least one frame of the HDTV signal. Display data are written in the RAMs 3, 4 by using a basic clock of the HDTV signal. The display data written in the RAMs 3, 4 are transferred to the FIFO memory 7. A mixer 8 outputs the display data written in the RAMs 3, 4 and the display data written in the FIFO memory 7 by combining them. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
