PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically print even a photographic film having different frame sizes consecutively. SOLUTION: The photographic film used has no sprocket driving holes and comprises; a non-photographing area which has optical position detection transmission holes 19 arranged and has information about the photographic film between the optical position detection transmission holes 19; frame numbers 41a recorded in the non-photographing area; and an approximately linear film leading part. A photographing system comprises a photographic camera and a printer. The photographic camera exposes the photographic film to light and records frame size signals 12a indicating areas to be printed in the non-photographing area. The printer detects the frame size signals 12a and frame numbers 41a recorded in the vicinity of one end part of the non-photographing area in order to consecutively print a plurality of photographic films connected by splicing, discriminates the frame size signals 12a to determine correctness or error on the basis of feed of the film, selects the aperture sizes of masks designated in accordance with the discriminated frame size signals 12a, and prints the pictures of the photographic film on photographic paper.
