PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reflector from being broken during operation as much as possible by incorporating a metal plate for reinforcement by fixing the reflector to the metal plate for reinforcement held by a holder for reinforcing metal plate, in an image reader employing a structure such that a thin, long-sized reflector is incorporated at a specified position across a metal plate for reinforcement. SOLUTION: The metal plate 21 for reinforcement is stored while sandwiched between leg parts 22a and 22b of the holder 22 for reinforcing metal plate which is sectioned almost in a U shape. When a fixed part 21a of the reinforcing metal plate 21 is positioned at a mount part 22d and a reflector holding part 21b is positioned at a storage part 22e, the reinforcing metal plate 21 becomes stable in the holder 22 for reinforcing metal plate, so the reflector 20 is fitted to a hold surface 21d which is exposed upward in this state.
