PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronous motor which can raise the efficiency by lowering the iron loss of a stator for constituting a stator section. SOLUTION: The stator 10 for constituting the stator section 2 of a three-phase synchronous motor 1 includes a first back yoke 6 having twelve teeth 5 provided on an inner periphery, and a second back yoke 7 radially lap wound on the outer peripheral surface of the first back yoke 6. The first back yoke 6 is formed of nonoriented magnetic steel sheets. Meanwhile, the second back yoke 7 is formed of directional magnetic steel sheets each having an easy direction of magnetization in a circumferential direction. The radial width size of a part which does not include the teeth 5 of the first back yoke 6 and the radial width size of the second back yoke 7 are formed to become substantially equal.
