A simple, compact method for linking rain water barrels (10, 11) has a rigid top pipe (12) set across the barrels and provided with bend over ends (14, 15) which reach into the barrels. Rigid or flexible hoses (16, 17) connect the bent over ends with fittings (18, 19) in the bottom of each barrel. The rigid section is made of plastic or metal and has a sealable venting hole (20). The system can be extended to link a number of barrels to a main barrel.
