The device is embedded in a network equipment and has a safety management module (MAE) adapting the configuration of the equipment (NE) according to a management data stored in a management information base (MIB). The module modifies a policy of measurement of parameter values of a network and/or modifies policy of sending report to network management system (NMS) and/or modifies operation mode of the network equipment. An independent claim is also included for a communication network.
